Laughter Seminar & Show
Laughter for Africa, is hosting a public laughter seminar and show on the 25 May 2010 at 6 pm at Old Mill Theatre in Paarl. This is part of the 'Let's get the Nation Laughing Campaign'. The aim of this campaign is to educated people about the benefits of laughter for yourself and the community.
The seminar is to show people that you can laugh without using comedy, jokes and humour - all that is needed is a willingness to laugh. Scientific studies have shown that children up to the age of 8 years - laugh an average of about 300 times a day. This is because they laugh with their bodies and not their minds. Adults on the other hand, laugh on average only about 10 times a day, because they laugh with their minds. During this laughter seminar, we become like children again and we laugh for no reason at all.
This concept originated in 1995 with Dr Madan Kataria from Mumbai, India. Since then, this phenomenon called Laughter Yoga, has spread to more that 65 countries world-wide. This laughter seminar is presented by Martin Combrinck, international certified Laughter Professional. Part of this presentation is a laughter theatre show, by two well-known actors, Bennie Jacobs and Redione Stephens from 'Lollos' fame - http://www.laughter4africa.org.za/events.htm
